Beautiful color. It looks delicious. I grew up in the SF Bay Area, with the same cool summers, so I also have no memory of warm evenings outdoors in California. But, my dad mapped the eleven Western states for the USGS, and for parts of each summer my family would decamp to wherever he was working. At those locations I have lovely memories of being outside with all of us eating watermelon. We had a beautiful MCM wood and chrome salt shaker and pepper mill set—my nephew and niece have it now—that my dad used to salt and pepper his watermelon. I found that exotic and fascinating. We kids were on the move with our juicy slices. I never used to think of watermelon, but I have recently when I go to my vegetable stand on a warm afternoon. Both your watermelon chaat and your salad look good, I'd be happy to read about either.

I’m going to try putting it in my ice cream maker and make watermelon pops
